ENIAC was the first programmable general-purpose electronic digital computer. It was enormous. It occupied the 15-by-9-metre basement of the Moore School, where its 40 panels were arranged, U-shaped, along three walls. But. the “smartphone” we walk around with in our pockets is a computer and telecommunication device, the average size of a smartphone is set to break the five-inch barrier this year, with the most common device size likely to become between five and 5.6 inches.
